Meet Lorraine
Whatever hardship, trauma or pain has happened in your life, your journey has brought you to this point along your life path.
Lorraine Hall is a Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of clinical experience. Previously, she was a Clinical Coordinator in Mental Health and was also the Director of Perinatal Social Work at Grace Hospital, now known as BC Women’s Health Centre. She has worked in health care in both Canada and the United States, with a background in two professions, nursing and social work.
She works with adults of all ages, individually, as couples, and in groups.
What Lorraine helps with
Anxiety
When feelings of fear and worry are excessive and out of proportion to the situation and the mind will not switch off, with intrusive thoughts, increased heart rate, trouble breathing and sleeping and similar difficulties.
Depression
Flatness, exhaustion, persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, and a loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities and often includes a sense of guilt or shame that it’s your fault.
Trauma and PTSD
Trauma is not what happened to you, it’s what happened inside of you because of what happened to you. Post traumatic stress can be intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in thinking and mood and in physical and emotional reactions.
She also works with grief, stress, anger, self esteem, life transitions, relationship difficulties, spirituality, and the questions that come with getting older. See the full list.
How she works
Lorraine uses resilience oriented, trauma informed engagement, compassionate inquiry, and positive reframing; a solution focused, strength based approach, with mindful body-based self regulation tools.
The aim is the root of the problem rather than the symptoms on the surface. Unresolved trauma is still an under-explored risk factor in both mental and physical health.
As much as we want change, we often resist the very change we need. Your part in this process is crucial to your healing journey, which is to be as kind to yourself as possible. Sometimes that is the hardest part.
